More Live Earth Reviews

I have been reading and listening to reviews about the Live Earth concerts and their possibly not-so-green status at the actual events around the world. Yesterday on the Gayle King Show on XM radio, Gayle’s daughter, whom I believe is college-age, said that she went to the Live Earth concert at Giant Stadium in New Jersey and that she thought it was a very green affair. She said the utensils for food was made out of recycled materials and/or potatoes (yeah, oddly cool) and that there were multiple recycling bins, not just for your standard plastic and paper, but also for compost, like they do at most Whole Food’s stores in the cafe section. There were, however, no green transportation methods and she contemplated the carbon footprint it took for all of the artists to get to the actual even, not too mention that most of the artists said on stage they had no idea what being green meant before the concert. I guess that could be good that they know now, but I think it takes away from the credibility of the event when its participants just came to play, although they did so for free I am told. So I guess they saved some green (money) there.
I found another Northern VA blogger, The Green Miles, and he has a great review on the American Live Earth concert in New Jersey from a green perspective, and also as an attendee. Miles writes that while he was pleased with the recycling facilities, he felt that a lot of companies were pushing recycled junk, which although recycled, is still wasteful and often useless. So read his post and send any other reviews and comments about the Live Earth concerts my way.
