Kathy Griffin is God

Did that title offend you? If so, stop reading because it will only get worse for you from here. I am so annoyed at the way religion is spooned down everyone’s throat, so when Kathy Griffin wins an Emmy for her show, My Life on the D-List, and her acceptance speech is funny because it pokes fun at those who accept awards as though God decided they were worthy, you just knew the religious wrong had to say something about it.
In her speech, Kathy G. said, “a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus.”
She then held up her Emmy and said, “Can you believe this shit? Hell has frozen over. Suck it, Jesus, this award is my god now.”
I’m not saying everyone has to find this funny, even though you’d be wrong because it’s brilliant, I’m saying that you can have the opinion that this isn’t funny and then you need to move on. Every day I am bombarded with religion by what people say and I have to deal, so why is it any different for Jesus freaks? So now the Catholic League is calling on the TV academy to denounce her speech and for it to be censored wherever it’s played. Don’t the Catholics need to be worrying about priests not touching children? I think they have done enough damage.
So check out her speech and the comments, Bill Donohue, the Catholic League President, makes on an interview about it. He compares what Kathy said to hate speech spouted against Blacks and Jews, but he doesn’t just say that, he has the nerve to use the n-word and compare it to what she said. I am disgusted with him! Don Imus thought it was okay to speak disparagingly about Black women. Kathy Griffin, a comedian, made a comment about the award being of her own efforts and that Jesus had nothing to do with it. What’s the difference here? Black women are real and deserve respect; and Jesus is not floating on a cloud above you making decisions by smiting your oppressors. I’m sorry Catholic sensibilities are shaken when people do not share their fictional point-of-view, but they can suck it! Because Kathy Griffin is my god now!
